Technical Engineering Manager (API & Cloud Engineering)

Responsibilities:

  • Owns coding, test and implementation of scalable APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications supporting critical business capabilities.
  • Participate in expert level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrate third-party products and ensure expected application performance levels are achieved.
  • Hire, evaluate, and supervise team members. Provide guidance and training to support development. Set performance standards, conduct performance reviews, and make compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, scalability, security, and developer productivity.
  • Design and implement solutions leveraging AWS services, cloud-native patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and lead resolution efforts for critical production incidents.
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding project issues and implications. Evaluate the impact of change requests on technologies. Provide task and cost estimates and contribute to technical decision-making.
  • Establish and promote engineering standards for API development, system integration, observability, and software quality.
  • Support adoption of AI and GenAI technologies where appropriate to improve engineering effectiveness and business outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience designing, building, and delivering enterprise-scale software solutions and applications.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a people leader in a technical capacity.
  • Experienced with designing, building, and supporting APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experienced with developing and deploying cloud-native applications and services in AWS.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and modern development frameworks.
  • Experience with enterprise application architecture, system integration, and scalable software design patterns.
  • Experience applying Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience with database technologies, performance optimization, application security, and operational best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
