Senior Manager, Workplace Conversions and Plan Enhancements

As Senior Manager, Workplace Conversions and Plan Enhancements, you will lead high-performing teams that partner with Vanguard Workplace clients to deliver seamless plan conversions, plan changes, and service enhancements. You'll set the strategic direction and governance that enable expert consulting and end-to-end project leadership-anticipating client needs, mitigating operational risk, safeguarding plan integrity, and delivering consistently exceptional client outcomes at scale.
Responsibilities
- Attracts, develops, and retains top talent by hiring, coaching, and evaluating leaders and teams. Establishes clear performance expectations, provides ongoing feedback, and makes compensation decisions aligned with Human Resources policies. Acts as a leader of leaders, balancing effective delegation with oversight to mitigate risk while fostering accountability and autonomy.
- Serves as a senior management leader, influencing short- and long-term departmental direction through disciplined business planning, governance, and execution. Sets strategic priorities for area of responsibility and drives measurable improvements in service, efficiency, and outcomes. Demonstrates strong financial acumen by proactively managing budgets and resources to support business objectives.
- Directs and empowers teams to achieve business plan objectives, budgets, and key performance targets. Reviews operational reports, trends, and metrics to identify insights, manage risk, and recommend actions aligned with long-term strategy. Champions continuous improvement and optimization of the operating model across Workplace Solutions and the enterprise.
- Assesses client needs, behaviors, and trends to inform service enhancements and future-state planning. Oversees proactive client consulting and project execution, ensuring complex requests and escalations are managed effectively and resolved with excellence. Elevates issues to senior leadership when appropriate to protect client outcomes and relationships.
- Partners closely with internal stakeholders to support growth and retention initiatives, including participation in client-facing discussions, project-related engagements, and premier prospecting efforts. Demonstrates strong collaboration across Workplace Solutions and enterprise partners to advance shared priorities and deliver superior client experiences.
- Maintains deep knowledge of Vanguard offerings, the retirement plan industry, and the evolving regulatory and compliance landscape. Stays current on competitors and emerging service models to ensure competitiveness and informed strategic decision-making.
- Leads or contributes to special projects and other responsibilities as needed in support of organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience (graduate degree or professional designation preferred).
- Minimum eight years related work experience in Financial Services, three years experience in client services preferred, five years in a management role preferred.
- Ability to think strategically to shape multi-year direction aligned to strategic priorities
- Masterfully delegates, develops talent, and drives engagement
- Strong consulting and client relationship skills.
- Ability to influence and persuade at all levels of the organization.
- Superior communication skills (verbal and written) as well as excellent negotiating, consulting, and interpersonal skills.
