Purpose of the role
Provide leadership in shaping and delivering Vanguard's superannuation product offering strategy. This role drives the design, development, and optimisation of complex product streams, ensuring superior client outcomes, regulatory compliance, and commercial success. It operates at an enterprise-influencing level, partnering with C-level executives, engaging externally with the market, regulators, and media, and maintaining regular interaction with trustees and the board.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute superannuation product strategies across multiple offerings, aligning with organisational priorities and market dynamics.
- Portfolio Oversight: Manage a portfolio of products, ensuring lifecycle optimisation, pricing, positioning, and performance at scale.
- External Representation: Act as a key spokesperson for Vanguard, in the Super context, externally to the market and regulators, including media engagements.
- Governance & Board Engagement: Engage regularly with C-level stakeholders and trustees/board to secure alignment and investment for strategic initiatives.
- Risk & Compliance Governance: Champion compliance and risk culture across product streams, ensuring adherence to APRA requirements and governance standards.
- Innovation & Market Differentiation: Drive innovation to enhance competitiveness and deliver differentiated client value propositions.
- Leadership & Talent Development: Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all Vanguard policies and procedures.Lead people and cross-functional teams, fostering a high-performance culture and building future leadership capability.
- Accountability for Growth: Own accountability for product growth and success metrics.
- Responsible Person Qualification: Be qualified (or able to become qualified) as a Responsible Person under APRA definitions.
- Other: Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum 20 years' experience in the superannuation industry (not just general financial services).
- Extensive experience in product management with responsibility for large-scale portfolios.
- Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks at an enterprise level.
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and shape organisational strategy.
- Strong commercial acumen with accountability for profitability and growth.
- Track record of leading transformational product initiatives and managing senior leadership teams.
