Fixed Income Service Senior Specialist
This Senior Specialist role within Enterprise Investment Services (EIS), is part of a team of nine, delivering daily operational support for Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and managing Investment Index Data. The position also involves coaching team members to handle complex issues and projects independently.
Key responsibilities include maintaining the Fixed Income Investment Book of Records (IBOR), performing start and end-of-day checks, managing liquidity and cashflows, monitoring trading activity, and providing actionable insights to the Investments Team.
Candidates should bring extensive knowledge of fixed income markets, active and indexing strategies, and Aladdin, along with practical experience in operations, troubleshooting, project management, stakeholder engagement, and a strong understanding of the investment lifecycle.
The Investment Management Group Fixed Income Service Team is evolving, offering an opportunity to provide direct operational support to the Fixed Income Investment Group and Investment Data Management.

Key duties include maintaining the FI Investment Book of Records (IBOR), conducting start and end-of-day checks, managing liquidity and cashflows, monitoring trading activity, and providing insights to the Investments Team.
Candidates should have extensive knowledge of fixed income markets, indexing strategies, and Aladdin, along with practical Operations experience in troubleshooting, project management, stakeholder management, and investment lifecycle understanding.
Core Responsibilities
This role requires a candidate who is comfortable and motivated by building strong in-person relationships with the Portfolio Managers and Trading Team.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the end-to-end fixed income investment process conceptually and operationally. This includes a Front-to-Back understanding of the investing lifecycle

Responding to Investment process queries and concerns quickly with valuable insights and explanation
Engaging wider EIS teams to collate the information or actions required by Desk and build strong interpersonal relationships. Especially Settlements Team to minimize failed trades
Provide c oach ing to less senior Specialists in managing complex queries, developing their technical acumen and supporting various projects and fund launches.
Lead on the more complex fund launches and project-related work , demonstrating high levels of project management capability and governance
Monitor and understand portfolio movements to provide value-adding insights to the Desk, especially liquidity (investable cash), duration and general trading activity
Support the management of Investment and Index Data to ensure accurate and timely representation of Data to Fixed Income Investment Team
Monitor market/world events and consider how these may impact the Investing process and therefore the EIS working day. Discuss with colleagues.
Work with Investment Risk and Operational Risk Teams to improve controls and control environment
Identify , build and drive process improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes eg : automations, new coding, technological suggestions an collaborations
Familiarise with the Vanguard Management System as an approach to continuous improvement (managing time, communicating effectively, root cause analysis of incidents, continuous learning)
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years related work experience within Fund Operations or Investment Team-facing role
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Accounting , Finance degree or CFA preferred
- Expertise in fixed income investment markets
- Experience with Aladdin Book of Records platform
Skills and Knowledge
- Asset classes including government and corporate bonds, reverse repos, cross currency swaps, IRS, futures, forwards
- Markets including UK, Europe, US and APAC markets ( including restricted markets such as India, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, China)
- Strategies including both Active and Index investing : Investment Grade, High Yield, Short term money market
- Coaching and training of staff to raise the overall technical capability of the team
- Python, SQL
- Aladdin, CTM, CRIMS
Special factors:
This position is hybrid and will require you to work in office Monday - Friday
