Engineering Manager, Site Reliability

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, supporting career growth, and strengthening team delivery.
  • Lead the technical direction and delivery of reliability platform capabilities, including automation, engineering enablement tools, reusable frameworks, and solutions that improve software resilience, quality, and developer productivity.
  • Partner with architects and senior engineers to shape solution design, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and ensure the team's platforms are scalable, maintainable, secure, and adoptable across multiple product families.
  • Stay technically engaged by reviewing technical approaches, challenging assumptions, contributing to design discussions, and selectively participating in high-leverage technical discovery or implementation.
  • Partner with product leaders, engineering leaders, architects, and stakeholders to clarify priorities, align expectations, and drive adoption of shared capabilities.
  • Own team outcomes by prioritizing work effectively, surfacing risks early, managing dependencies, and ensuring commitments are delivered reliably.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-augmented engineering workflows, automation, testability, maintainability, observability, CI/CD, operational awareness, and sound software design.
  • Develop senior engineers by creating growth opportunities and coaching them as they expand their collaboration, ownership, influence, and leadership capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of trust, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement so the team operates cohesively and delivers meaningful outcomes.
  • Participate in departmental planning, staffing discussions, engineering effectiveness initiatives, special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cloud technologies (AWS preferred), and developer productivity.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team delivery.
  • Experience building or supporting shared engineering platforms, automation solutions, and developer enablement capabilities.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering tools and automation that improve software delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to influence engineering direction and guide sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automation frameworks, and developer tooling.
  • Experience in observability, resilience, reliability engineering, and production readiness practices.
