Data Reporting, Specialist

Vanguard offers multiple approaches to proxy voting, all aimed at supporting long-term investment returns. The Investment Stewardship Data, Operations, and Control team helps enable these approaches through service partnerships with the Vanguard Capital Management Investment Stewardship (VCMIS) team, the Vanguard Portfolio Management Investment Stewardship (VPMIS) team, Investor Choice, and more than two dozen external investment managers, each with its own proxy voting approach. In this role, you will serve as a data analyst supporting the reporting and analytics needs of the VCMIS and VPMIS teams. You will work closely with team leadership and crew, the Digital Product Manager, Lead Data Analyst, Office General Counsel IT, and other enterprise partners to deliver reporting and analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders across Vanguard Capital Management Investment Stewardship (VCMIS), Vanguard Portfolio Management Investment Stewardship (VPMIS), Legal, and Compliance to understand business strategies, priorities, and key questions. Translate business needs into structured analytical approaches and deliver reporting and analytics solutions through execution.
• Acquire, integrate, and validate data from structured and unstructured sources, ensuring high standards of data quality, accuracy, and reliability.
• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights using established analytical tools and methodologies.
• Design and deliver dashboards and data visualizations-primarily in Power BI/Fabric, with some Tableau-to communicate insights clearly and enable informed decision-making.
• Own and enhance recurring reporting processes, including identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and modernize workflows.
• Contribute to team initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that advance innovation, efficiency, and data capabilities.
• Build and apply foundational knowledge of ETL processes and analytics within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
• Support special projects and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience using AWS services to access, process, and manage large-scale datasets
• Experience with GitHub and version control best practices
• Proficiency with query and programming tools such as Amazon Athena and Python; experience with SageMaker is a plus
• Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or comparable platforms
• Understanding of relational database design and architecture
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation and data integrity
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
• Familiarity with Vanguard's data ecosystem and metadata management practices
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and solve complex problems
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance data, as well as fund-side systems such as GIFS and GIDM, is a strong plus
• Proactive, hands-on mindset with a strong desire to make an immediate impact
