Senior Director, Video Products

Today Flexible / Remote

We build websites, apps, newsletters, and other products that power the digital offerings of a major national brand and hundreds of local news brands nationwide. We've been a distributed team since before it was cool, with a hybrid culture shaped by fully remote teammates and those working from local offices across the country. Our geographic diversity brings us closer to our audiences, keeping them at the center of our work. And because many of us live in communities served by journalism, we take extra pride in helping it succeed.

What You'll Do

Video is a cornerstone of USA TODAY Co.'s digital strategy, delivering compelling storytelling and immersive experiences across platforms. As Senior Director, Video Products, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution for our video product ecosystem-spanning web, mobile apps, and the video publishing workflow that powers our newsroom.

You will lead a team of product professionals-including Product and Project Managers-while partnering closely with editorial, engineering, design, marketing, and data teams. Your mission: to grow the value, reach, and engagement of our video experiences for audiences nationwide, from breaking news clips to premium long-form content.

This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role-setting a bold roadmap, aligning stakeholders, and rolling up your sleeves to make things happen. You'll measure success by product KPIs tied to audience growth, engagement, and revenue impact.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the end-to-end video product strategy, aligning with company goals for audience, subscription, and advertising growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Develop and communicate a compelling product vision and roadmap for video experiences across all digital platforms.
  • Partner with editorial, design, engineering, data, and marketing leaders to ensure alignment and execution against roadmap priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand audience engagement and revenue through habit-forming, differentiated video products.
  • Use data and insights to continuously optimize product performance, validate assumptions, and refine strategy.
  • Champion a culture of rapid experimentation, user-centered design, and Agile delivery practices.
  • Serve as the primary product leader representing Video at the executive level, ensuring product initiatives support broader company strategy.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including 5+ in a leadership role managing product teams.
  • Deep knowledge of digital media, video platforms, or streaming technologies.
  • Demonstrated success defining and delivering consumer-facing digital products with measurable impact.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic vision with executional detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Agile methodologies and human-centered design practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of using data to drive decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills-able to inspire teams and influence executives.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

You are passionate about building world-class video experiences that captivate audiences. You thrive at the intersection of audience needs, business goals, and technical capabilities-with the vision to see big opportunities and the drive to bring them to life.
