We are offering $15.75 an hour based on experience.

Full Time (Nights and Weekends)

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Overview:

The first step in the printing of newspapers is producing the printing plates the printing press uses to apply ink to the newsprint. The Platemakers receive the digital page files from the graphic designers and output (print) them to large laser printer-like machines that image the pages on to the aluminum plates. With over 2,200 plates imaged every day, it is the Platemaker's responsibility to get the correct plates to the Press department, in the correct order, at the correct time.

Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills centered around communicating via email and IM.
  • Able to learn specialized software used to output printing plates.
  • Intense attention to detail - able to spot differences between similar file names.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Mechanically inclined to aid in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for hours at a time and to lift up to 40 pounds.
