The Optum Ireland Payment Integrity (PI) Automation Centre of Excellence is an exciting venture that's passionate about process automation. We support the organization through the delivery of automation solutions, using existing, new and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity and quality and reduce cost.
The Senior Software Engineer will help deliver assisted automation solutions through the building of UI's, APIs, and Services. This includes Design, develop, modify, and/or test Optum software applications for the healthcare industry in an agile environment. Along with supporting the build of automated business processes using the suite of RPA tools and other advanced automation technologies currently used by Optum.

This will include understanding technical and infrastructure requirements, process analysis, development of the automated workflow, appropriate unit testing and successful release to deployment. Support the wider team with coaching and mentoring.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain Enterprise application within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes
- Establish, refine, and integrate tools and software as needed
- Identify production and non-production application issues proactively
- Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize applications
- Provide technical support and consultation and Serve as a mentor
- Providing architectural input over solution designs to ensure consistency and continuity across the company's IT infrastructure and delivery teams
- Develop and configure automation processes as per the process requirements document to meet requirements defined by the business
- Ensure quality of coded components by using best practice
- Comply with and helps enforce design and coding standards, policies and procedures
- Ensure documentation is well maintained
- Communicate any identified project risks and issues to the delivery/project manager and providing inputs to the change control process
- Support the Operational Teams during the UAT and rollout phases
- Training and mentoring other developers within the team on development and delivery disciplines
- Develop team standards and best practices while keeping up to date with industry standards, and technology changes to help build robust systems to accommodate the industry requirements and business needs
- Investigate new technologies and ensuring an effective partnership with OPTUM's Innovation Lab and Analytics teams to leverage the expertise in data science, machine learning and cognitive technologies

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrates advanced understanding of programming concepts and a programming background in one or more modern languages, preferably C# or Java
- Proven experience in JavaScript - React/Typescript
- Proven exposure to Microsoft Azure, both on Prem and Public Cloud
- Proven significant experience with software development \ programming \ database concepts
- Proven experience in delivering successful IT \ business software projects
- Proven solid understanding of typical Enterprise IT infrastructure \ architecture
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the key requirements documents involved in a delivery lifecycle (functional, technical, testing documents)
- Ability to be well-organized with good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to be self-motivated, team player, action and results oriented
- Proven exposure to Agile delivery methods
- Proven experience working with distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven previous experience with Advanced Intelligent Automation, AI / Machine Learning , Demonstrated Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer-Vision
- Proven experience in delivering an automated process into production using an RPA tool (UIPath, Blue Prism \ Automation Anywhere \ others)
- Demonstrates solid database skills with proven experience using SQL Server \ Oracle \ MySQL etc.
- Proven previous experience in the Insurance Industry (preferably Health Insurance)
