Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with standard working hours.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer:
- Full Software Development Lifecycle: Perform all phases including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation.
- Design & Architecture: Contribute to secure, scalable, and maintainable software architecture; collaborate closely with architecture teams and articulate design decisions.
- Reusable Components & Innovation: Develop reusable components, frameworks, and patterns to improve team velocity and encourage innovation.
- Code Quality & Reviews: Conduct design/code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, unit testing, security, scalability, and maintainability guidelines.
- Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile/Scrum processes, working with cross-functional teams and product owners to deliver high-quality releases.
- Performance & Operational Enhancements: Design and implement improvements for performance and operational efficiency.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting: Address post-deployment issues and design effective solutions when needed.

Required Qualifications of the Senior Software Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) Or equivalent experience
- Experience building backend services with Java using Spring Framework (Boot, Core, MVC) with Spring Boot strongly preferred
- Experience working with Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with messaging and stream processing on Kafka or similar messaging technologies
- Experience with Relational Databases
- Experience with AWS cloud services
- Experience building and integrating with internal and external RESTful services
- Experience with DevOps toolsets such as Jenkins, Terraform, GitHub Actions etc.
Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Software Engineer:
Experience developing analytics applications in Spark or similar
