Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop Data Solutions & Insights:
    • Work with team members to identify business problems, goals, KPIs, and reporting requirements
    • Configure analytic solutions to match client and stakeholder needs, such as dashboards, data visualization, decision aids, and business case analyses
    • Interpret data to identify trends, patterns, or anomalies
    • Create meaningful PowerPoint presentations and robust, scalable dashboards to deliver analytics findings and support business development
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communications:
    • Collaborate with partners across growth, technology, and analytics to build new capabilities and enhance existing ones
    • Clearly communicate findings and actionable insights to key stakeholders
    • Support strategic decision-making across Optum, with a focus on growth and client oversight
  • Data Manipulation, Hygiene, & Best Practices:
    • Simplify and organize large datasets to deliver insights in a clear and actionable format
    • Establish scalable and repeatable processes for analyzing operational growth data by connecting various internal and external data sources
    • Recommend and implement new reporting methods to improve data outputs and complete information
    • Contribute to AI-related initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, predictive analytics, and intelligent reporting
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • 13+ years of overall experience
  • 10+ years of data analysis work
  • 5+ years of hands-on SQL experience (complex queries, joins, etc.) on relational databases
  • 5+ years of solid experience with Power BI
  • 5+ years of Intermediate level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, calculations, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc. and PowerPoint
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, managing teams of analysts
  • Hands-on healthcare data analysis/profiling
  • Experience partnering and working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Understanding revenue operations and ability to draw conclusions and take necessary actions to influence product development, operational improvements, and financial considerations
  • Understanding the various sources of data, desired data formats and industry-specific data elements (e.g. revenue codes, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for executive stakeholders
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Proven excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
