Quality Engineering Lead - Automation

Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and drive quality strategy for data products (pipelines, datasets, APIs, reports)
- Translate business requirements into testable acceptance criteria and quality gates
- Design and implement automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) for ETL/ELT workflows
- Build data validation checks (schema drift, null/duplicate detection, referential integrity, business rules)
- Establish CI/CD quality controls (test execution, code review standards, release readiness)
- Create and maintain test data, mocks/stubs, and repeatable environments
- Monitor production quality signals, triage defects, and lead root-cause analysis with engineering
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, and product to improve observability, documentation, and data trust
- Track quality metrics (defect leakage, test coverage, DQ scorecards) and drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
- 5+ years in QA/test engineering, including solid automation ownership
- Experience testing data pipelines and/or distributed systems (batch and streaming)
- Hands-on CI/CD experience (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and version control (Git)
- Solid SQL skills and experience validating complex transformations and large datasets
- Proficiency in one scripting language (Python preferred) and test frameworks
- Familiarity with data quality tooling/patterns: profiling, anomaly detection, schema management, lineage concepts
- Ability to debug across layers (jobs, logs, metrics, queries) and communicate clear defect reports
- Solid stakeholder skills: requirements clarification, risk-based testing, and mentoring
Preferred Qualification:
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms and orchestration (e.g., Azure/AWS/GCP, Airflow/ADF/Databricks)
