This individual will report to the Director of AI/ ML Solutions for Underwriting at Optum Rx and serve as a key leader within the team. This role will be instrumental in executing against Optum RX transformation priorities. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, business transformation and full AI / ML systems lifecycle experience along with solid stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.

What you will do:

• Drive execution of the AI Solutions strategy within a defined product or capability scope, ensuring alignment with business objectives
• Lead prioritization and roadmap refinement in partnership with senior stakeholders by translating business priorities into clear, outcome oriented initiatives and high level product requirements
• Identify and lead AI driven transformation initiatives across key business functions, converting ambiguous business challenges into AI enabled solutions with clearly defined, measurable value
• Evaluate, prioritize, and sequence initiatives based on business impact, technical feasibility, risk, and adoptability to maximize value realization and delivery effectiveness
• Serve as the bridge between business and technology, aligning senior business stakeholders with engineering teams to ensure clarity of intent, feasibility of solutions, and timely delivery
• Own end to end delivery of AI/ML and Agentic solutions, from ideation and discovery through production deployment and transition to steady-state operations
• Partner with engineering teams to implement AI solutions governance, MLOps, and Agentic Systems Operations to ensure scalability, operational resilience, compliance, and long term sustainability
• Partner with business and technology leadership to re imagine and redesign processes using AI driven automation to improve efficiency, quality, and user experience
• Drive change management and adoption by ensuring AI solutions are usable, trusted, and embedded into day to day business workflows
• Continuously identify gaps in quality, process efficiency, and automation, and lead targeted improvement initiatives to address them in collaboration with cross functional teams

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Proven solid technical foundation with a background in engineering and experience working in a consulting or transformation focused environment, delivering complex business change
• AI Product fluency: Demonstrated understanding of AI and ML techniques, including LLM and transformer based systems, how they are designed, integrated, and scaled within enterprise products. Comfortable partnering closely with data scientists and engineers to translate business problems into production ready AI capabilities
• Proven track record of contributing to strategic planning and successfully delivering AI enabled products that drive measurable transformation across business functions
• Demonstrable solid experience decomposing complex business problems into clear, incremental deliverables, operating effectively within Agile product development models
• Proven hands on experience with AI/ML systems, including a solid understanding of common challenges (e.g., data quality, scalability, bias, reliability) and practical approaches to addressing them
• Demonstrated working knowledge of AI systems in production environments, including MLOps practices, agent based systems, and LLM powered agents
• Proven ability to drive change, influence stakeholders at all levels, and exercise sound judgment when taking measured, value driven risks

• Master's Degree or a PhD in relevant field (data science, analytics, computer science, engineering) or equivalent experience
• Proven experience or good knowledge of the Azure cloud stack (Azure, Databricks)
• Demonstrable data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to synthesize insights and clearly communicate conclusions to both technical and non technical audiences
• Demonstrated passion for innovation and a solid desire to create meaningful impact, particularly within the healthcare domain
• Proven experience in prioritising work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines
