The Value Analytics team leads all growth-focused analytics across the enterprise, supporting initiatives from early prospecting through long-term client value realization. Our team includes pre-sale, post-sale, solution enablement, and enterprise intelligence functions, working together to deliver data-driven insights that power innovation and strategic decision-making. We collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Sales, Markets, and other Optum partners to transform sales prospects into high-value client relationships that leverage Optum's solutions to make the health system work better for everyone. Our work spans identifying financial value opportunities, optimizing services and delivery, and designing methods to generate revenue and efficiencies for clients. In addition, we focus on developing innovative, enterprise-wide analytics solutions and leveraging Optum data to fuel revenue growth and expand the pipeline.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for development of visualizations across the wide scope of influence for Value Analytics. Through their work, the Data Analyst will leverage data to build dynamic dashboards and analytics that help interpret client performance, develop revenue improvement estimates and financial models for potential clients and analyze the value of Optum's products and services. In order to complete this effort, the Data Analyst should have an understanding of the healthcare performance analytics and commit to developing a level of proficiency and knowledge about Optum's solutions. This role will also coordinate with cross-functional diligence teams within the following areas: sales, information technology, finance, revenue cycle operations, compliance, and human capital.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements and business process knowledge in order to transform the data in a way that's geared towards the needs of end users while ensuring that the data architecture is scalable and maintainable
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations on Power BI through data interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources
  • Utilize DAX to produce advanced level calculations, queries and measures
  • Maintain and Create Power BI Automate flows to automate tasks
  • Exposure to On-prem data management. Experience in design, development, monitoring and testing of visualization pipelines using Power BI. Responsible for end-to-end handling of the entire process
  • Ability to leverage SSRS and/or Power Bi Paginated reports for the development of deliverables
  • They create and manage data models to ensure that the data used in reports and dashboards is accurate, relevant, and structured in a way that supports data analysis
  • Managing databases and ensuring their performance, reliability, and security is also a key part of the job. This includes optimizing queries, maintaining database integrity, and managing data storage efficiently
  • Oversee the Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) processes, which involve pulling data from various sources, cleaning and consolidating it into a usable format. This process is crucial for ensuring that the data used for analysis is current and accurate
  • Research and identify new approaches to translate data into detailed visuals and reports
  • Identify and resolve data reconciliation and data quality issues
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in reports and presentations
  • Responsible for Project Documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree required (STEM or Healthcare related field)
  • Proven solid development experience in Power BI
  • Proven experience in SQL query development
  • Proven development experience in SSRS / paginated reports
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform and Visio
  • Proven track record as a successful individual contributor with experience collaborating across multiple teams, including for example other solution architects, delivery and/or operation SMEs
  • Collaborative nature with solid communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with hospital-based operations team, recognized healthcare consulting firm, or healthcare solutions provide
  • Proven previous experience working on a distributed team with coworkers sitting across the country and around the world
  • Proven background in healthcare sales analytics
  • Proven expertise &/or prior experience working with Microsoft PowerApps & Fabric platform(s)
  • Proven ability to be a creative, strategic thinker with excellent critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience using Git based source code repositories
