Medical Directors working in Optum Ireland Clinical Intelligence are developing cutting edge analytical products from one of the world's richest healthcare dataset. You will be at the intersection of clinical medicine, data science and technology
This is a full-time position with standard working hours Monday to Friday.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with autonomy and in partnership with other members of the clinical team and with data scientists to find solutions to complex problems
- Work with other members of the clinical team and with data scientists to build and prototype new products and solutions that have the capability to transform the industry
- Work as part of the clinical team on a variety of projects including proofs of concept, new product / component development, and reengineering initiatives among others
- Work as part of the clinical team to provide clinical oversight and governance based on evidence based medicine, clinical guidelines, and best practices while adhering to any and all local, state, federal, or global legal and regulatory requirements
- Be familiar with the state-of-the-art around big data analytics and associated technologies and techniques
- Be an independent thinker and advocate for clinical application of data science methods and applications and how they can benefit healthcare operations
- Use critical thinking to analyze and solve problems

Required Qualifications:
- Fully qualified Physician with extensive post graduation clinical experience
- Proven solid knowledge of clinical medicine, guidelines and implementation of evidence-based practice into clinical workflow
- Demonstrated interest in data science and technology and how they can be applied to solve problems in healthcare
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven prior experience in analytics / data science / technology development and/or implementation in a business or academic setting. This could be an advanced degree such as Master of Public Health or similar
- Proven prior experience in a fast-paced, agile workspace with ability to manage a key role in multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated core knowledge of statistics
- Demonstrated knowledge of the US Healthcare system
