About the Team
Our India Device Team builds and supports Android-based device solutions for UKG. We work across device software, platform integration, and system reliability to deliver secure, dependable solutions. As our device ecosystem grows, we are strengthening our platform and integration expertise to support more complex device needs.
About the Role
As a Staff Engineer, you will bring deep expertise in Android platform architecture, Linux systems, AOSP, and hardware integration to help build and support reliable device solutions. You will strengthen our depth in embedded Android environments, guide platform-level decisions, and solve complex system challenges across the device stack.
In this role, you will:
• Lead Android-based device platform architecture and hardware/software integration across peripherals, low-level components, and platform services
• Resolve issues involving boot flows, kernel interactions, HAL, system services, performance, stability, and device behavior through root cause analysis, debugging, and issue triage
• Partner with hardware, firmware, product, and global engineering teams to improve maintainability, observability, security, and platform quality
• Mentor engineers in Android internals, Linux systems, AOSP customization, and device integration while strengthening cross-site collaboration, support coverage, and overall execution
About You
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related field; Master's or advanced degree preferred
• 6+ years of professional software development experience

• Familiarity with AI tools/frameworks and the use of AI in the software development lifecycle
• Extensive experience with software and systems design, development practices, and design patterns
• Strong experience in Android platform development, embedded Linux, or AOSP-based systems, including architecture, low-level debugging, BSPs, vendor integrations, and device bring-up
• Experience integrating peripherals, sensors, drivers, or board-level systems, with strong C/C++, system-level programming, and use of logs, traces, dumps, and diagnostic tools
• Experience with performance tuning, memory analysis, stability debugging, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and production issue resolution
• Experience with CI/CD, release processes, and system validation for device/platform software
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise devices, custom hardware platforms, or Android device manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with kernel debugging, driver development, SELinux, power management, and system validation
• Exposure to Flutter, Dart, or application-layer Android development
• Experience working with globally distributed teams
