Lead Cloud Platform Engineer
Why UKG:
At UKG, the work you do matters. The code you ship, the decisions you make, and the care you show a customer all add up to real impact. Today, tens of millions of workers start and end their days with our workforce operating platform. Helping people get paid, grow in their careers, and shape the future of their industries. That's what we do.
We never stop learning. We never stop challenging the norm. We push for better, and we celebrate the wins along the way. Here, you'll get flexibility that's real, benefits you can count on, and a team that succeeds together. Because at UKG, your work matters-and so do you.
Our Purpose is People At UKG, we believe that people are the engine of every great organization. We are looking for a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to join our CorpIT organization. In this role, you will be a key driver in "Raising the Bar" for our internal enterprise infrastructure. You will lead the design, implementation, and automation of a robust, multi-cloud platform across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
This is a strategic leadership role within the Enterprise Core Platform team. You won't just be managing cloud resources; you will be architecting the "paved path" for our global network, compute, and tool configurations. Your goal is to deliver a seamless, automated, and secure ecosystem that enables our internal engineering teams to deliver value with speed and precision.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Act as the primary technical visionary for UKG's CorpIT internal multi-cloud platform, establishing standards for networking, security, and infrastructure deployment across GCP and Azure.
Platform Automation: Lead the development of modular Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate the lifecycle of all platform-related items, including landing zones, network fabrics, and developer tools.
Network & Compute Orchestration: Design and manage complex cloud network topologies, including Shared VPCs, Azure Virtual WAN, Hub-and-Spoke models, and cross-cloud connectivity (Interconnect/ExpressRoute).
Tooling Configuration: Build and integrate a unified suite of platform tools for Identity management (Workload Identity), Secrets (HashiCorp Vault), and CI/CD (GitHub Actions/ArgoCD).
Policy as Code: Implement and oversee automated guardrails and governance using tools like OPA or Azure Policy to ensure compliance with UKG security standards.
Mentorship & Excellence: Act as a "player-coach" by performing deep-dive code reviews, upskilling team members, and ensuring 100% of the engineering team achieves relevant cloud certifications.

Required Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership capacity.
Expert-level proficiency in both Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.

Advanced mastery of Terraform and experience building custom automation in Python or Go.
Strong experience with Kubernetes (GKE and AKS)
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant professional-level certifications (e.g., Google Professional Cloud Architect/Network Engineer or Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
Experience building or managing an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) at scale.
