Strategic Finance Lead - Uber Fintech & Payments
About the Role
As the Strategic Finance Lead for UPMX, you will be the main point of contact for the Fintech's regulated vehicle in the country for all matters related to Financial Information, Treasury, Accounting, Payments Processing and Uber Money operations. You'll partner closely with Tax Reporting, Tax, several Accounting teams, Legal, Core Payments, Treasury, BuyerOps and key vendors to ensure regulatory compliance within budgeted costs.
What you'll do:
1. Strategy and execution: Partner closely with the CEO to shape the entity's strategy and priorities, proactively identify risks, design practical solutions, and drive disciplined execution to deliver measurable results, including complex projects.
2. Regulatory reports, obligations and audits: Ensure that financial and operational regulatory reports, obligations (ex. Annual external financial audit, capital, safeguarding, investment requirements, etc) and audit requests are met in due time and form. You'll need to execute when necessary, continuously and proactively working with cross-functional teams and helping your team remove blockers to deliver.
3. Financial statements: Validate and approve the entity's financial statements and present them in various forums, as required.
4. Processes, risks and controls: Owner of UPMX's financial and operational processes, risks and controls. Coordinate the submission of evidence materials to meet Financial Risk Controls of the entity + lead the annual exercise to update processes, risks and controls
5. New products: Validate and oversee product launches that may impact the entity's operations, financial performance, or regulatory reporting, ensuring full compliance is maintained at all times.
6. Team management: Manage a team of 3-6 people
Basic Qualifications
1. 10+ years of progressive professional experience in finance or accounting
2. Prior experience working in regulated industries (Banks or Fintechs) or willingness to engage in regulatory conversations internally and externally i.e. be familiar with relevant legislation
3. Deep understanding of the Payments ecosystem and digital wallets
4. Strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
5. Budget management
Preferred Qualifications
1. Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
2. Problem-solving - Able to solve high-complexity problems by using logic, common sense and data not only by identifying the root cause of a problem but also being capable of providing actionable insights and mitigation plans
3. Ability to navigate cross-functional stakeholder relationships
4. Familiar with the definition of processes and how systems work and interact with each other (high level)
5. Ambition and enthusiasm to seek opportunities to build value
6. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
7. Intermediate SQL proficiency, preferred
