Staff Data Engineer
About the Role
The Data Intelligence team at Uber is responsible for all the data engineering and data quality work in the Mobility group. The team builds and manages Source of Truth (SOTs) for all critical areas like Rider, Earner, Uber for Business etc.
Your role will be pivotal in shaping the roadmap for the data team. You will be a collaborative role model and an accessible leader, offering valuable insights and perspectives within a larger team. You will drive some of the key initiatives on Data quality and reliability aspects
What the Candidate Will Do:
- Responsible for driving larger data initiatives for Mobility and identifying opportunities to build solutions related to data quality.
- Identify unified data models collaborating with Data Science teams
- Drive the data excellence initiatives for the data quality and reliability of the Tier-1 & Tier-2 datasets for the Mobility org.
- Solve challenging data problems with cutting-edge design and algorithms.
- Coaching & Mentoring senior engineers
What the Candidate Will Need:
- A proven track record of excellence at the Senior Staff Engineer level or higher within a leading technology company
- Degree in Computer Science with at least 12+ years of industry experience and 5+ years in the Data domain.
- Expertise in Big data technologies like Spark, Hive, Flink, Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases,
- In-depth, hands-on experience doing data modeling, query optimizations and work in Java, Scala, Python, and related technologies
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
