Sr Safety Operations Manager

2 days ago San Francisco, CA

About the Role

We're looking for an individual who is passionate about trust and safety to join our US & Canada Safety Operations team. In this role, you'll become a subject matter expert on the core safety issues impacting our Mobility and Delivery platforms and the levers we can pull to address them. Using that knowledge, you'll support the development of policies governing how we should react to reports of concerning behavior and proactive initiatives to ensure safety for human-driven and autonomous trips on our platform.

You will sit at the intersection of policy, data, and technology, developing proactive initiatives to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and road safety incidents while guiding Uber's approach to safety for our AV partners. Additionally, you will serve as a focal point for internal AV safety coordination across Uber. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires the ability to switch between high-level strategic thinking and tactical execution in a complex, evolving environment.

What You'll Do

- Review and summarize safety incidents from human-driven and AV trips, coordinate our response to high severity events, and keep a pulse on core safety metrics and KPIs
- Develop subject matter expertise by reviewing safety data and macro trends in the rideshare and AV industry as well as internal incident data. Leverage that knowledge to conduct safety assessments and drive platform improvements for human-driven and AV trips
- Provide support for the development of AV safety best practices through Uber's membership in the Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium
- Stakeholder Management: Be the glue that brings teams together across Product, Engineering, Legal, Policy, and other functions to drive decisions on strategically important questions, and deliver on shared goals and priorities.
