Sr Product Manager, Uber Maps - Places
About the Role
Uber's map is the foundation that powers all Uber rides and deliveries. It is the heart of the system that moves people and goods from point A to point B efficiently and with minimum friction.
The quality of map data (coverage, accuracy, freshness & richness) which powers all our map experiences is critical.
You will be responsible for building a precise, high-fidelity and dynamic digital representation of the real world to make every movement with Uber frictionless and differentiated.
What you'll do
- Define and drive the strategic vision and roadmap for high-quality maps and places data, including what to build, buy, or use open source for.
- Lead the product development lifecycle, including ideation, defining requirements, go-to-market strategy, quality, and launch.
- Work closely with engineering, data science, and internal stakeholders to deliver map data that enables great customer experiences.

- Foster innovation, use of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking in the team.
- Identify and capitalize on strategic opportunities for innovation and competitive differentiation across the entire Maps platform, anticipating future needs and challenges.
- Lead the planning, manage, and prioritize the product roadmap, and ensure alignment with the overall company strategy and stakeholders.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of your features.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and innovations in the map data industry.
- Communicate effectively about the basemap product to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll have
- Experience defining and improving data quality metrics (e.g., accuracy, freshness, coverage, latency) in large-scale systems.
- Experience owning products that involve data ingestion, processing, validation, and serving pipelines.
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time data systems.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams (engineering, data science, operations) on technically complex platform products.
- Experience working with noisy, incomplete, or conflicting real-world datasets and designing systems to reconcile them.
- Expertise in the maps domain concepts: graph theory, topology, linear referencing, coordinate systems, etc.
- Strong understanding of maps and places data.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Domain or similar (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in the mapping domain.
- Proven track record of successfully launching and managing product initiatives.
