Sr Manager, Public Policy

3 days ago Seoul, South Korea

About the role and team

Leading Public Policy at Uber means setting direction in motion while navigating some of the world's most complex and entrenched regulatory status quos. You'll make decisions that directly affect how millions of people move across countries, turning legal and political complexity into strategic clarity at high speed.

This isn't a role for those who prefer a polished, predictable environment; it is for someone with the grit to engage in heated public debates and the resilience to advocate for innovation when the stakes are high.

What you'll do

  • Navigate high-stakes ambiguity to develop and drive public policy strategies that unlock growth and solve the biggest regulatory hurdles in highly regulated markets.
  • Build strategic, trusting relationships with government officials, transport regulators, and third-party stakeholders to influence the future of work and urban mobility.
  • Own your team's mission end-to-end, translating high-level business goals into actionable roadmaps that protect Uber's core services from harmful regulations.
  • Champion Uber's values internally and externally, driving proactive campaigns that demonstrate the tangible value of our platform to earners, riders, and communities. Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Communications, and Product teams to align strategies and unblock opportunities in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Public Policy, Law, Government, or a related field, or an advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPP). 10+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory advocacy within a corporate or government setting.
  • Experience developing regulatory infrastructure for highly regulated industries. A proven track record of communicating complex policy concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and build strategic alignment across disparate organizations. Proven grit and adaptability in navigating high-stakes public debates and shifting political landscapes.
  • Strong systems thinking skills, with a track record of identifying architectural gaps in policy and building long-term strategic solutions. Experience in a multinational context, managing teams across multiple geographies with varying cultural and regulatory dynamics.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook - it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves - we'd love to hear from you.

You may be eligible for bonuses, equity, and other compensation, as well as a range of benefits. Explore our benefits.

Offices remain key to collaboration and Uber's culture. Unless approved for full remote work, employees must spend at least 50% of their time in-office. Some roles, like those at greenlight hubs, require full-time in-office presence. Ask your Recruiter for details about this role's requirements.
