Sr. Claims Advocate, SIU

As a Senior Claims SIU Investigator you will focus on protecting our platform and users by proactively identifying, investigating, and mitigating the highest severity and most complex insurance fraud schemes. You are self-driven and #standforsafety because you deeply believe that fraud hurts our earners, customers, and the broader insurance/technology industry as a whole.
The ideal candidate for this highly autonomous yet collaborative role will possess strong claims knowledge and data analysis skills, with a focus on investigating high-value, organized fraud rings and sophisticated soft fraud schemes. This position offers a direct opportunity to utilize unique internal data to resolve complex cases and partner with external insurance partners for optimal outcomes, both on individual cases and at a strategic level. The role also involves mentoring less experienced investigators and requires superior communication and stakeholder management abilities.
What You'll Do
- Lead Major Case Investigations: With support, investigate large-scale, complex organized fraud, with a specific emphasis on staged accident rings and attorney-directed schemes involving excessive and unnecessary medical treatments. Gather and synthesize evidence from external sources, including public sources
- Leverage Internal Data: Utilize and query internal proprietary systems to sift through vast amounts of information, identify patterns, uncover linked entities, and build comprehensive investigative narratives.
- Carrier Collaboration: Provide guidance to our insurance carrier partners to ensure timely and effective action on investigative findings, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes on claims involving fraud.
- Communication: provide timely, accurate and comprehensive briefings on fraud schemes to team leaders, partner with stakeholders across Claims, Legal and data science to uncover information and share knowledge from major case investigations
- Mentor and Guide: Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to less experienced SIU investigators, helping them learn internal systems and developing their investigative skills into sophisticated fraud schemes.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in SIU investigations and/or claims experience
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Internal Data Expertise: Direct experience navigating and querying large data sets, with working knowledge of Uber's internal systems or similar proprietary databases within a major tech or transportation company.
- Teamwork and stakeholder management: Prior experience mentoring, coaching, or training junior team members, demonstrated ability to communicate shared goals and consider impact of their actions and work on the team. Able to identify stakeholders, gain buy-in and build productive relationships.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to understand wider business implications of problems and quantify impact to make trade-offs appropriately. Proven ability to generate solutions, monitor and validate impact; able to refine solutions and correct course as needed.
- Claim Investigation Expertise: Experience investigating and analyzing relationships between attorneys and medical providers, and knowledge of the current systemic structural issues underlying lien based treatment for claimants.
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$93,500 per year - USD$103,750 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$104,000 per year - USD$115,500 per year.
For Phoenix, AZ-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$83,000 per year - USD$92,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$104,000 per year - USD$115,500 per year.
