Software Engineer II - Earner Subscriptions
About the Role
More than 6 million drivers globally rely on Uber as their primary and flexible earnings source. As an Earner Org, we build products that enhance the value prop of driving with Uber. You will be joining a organization that builds on a new product type aimed at improving Earners earnings and provide a magical user experience on the platform.
As a Software Engineer II, you will have direct responsibility for vital systems and processes. You will take ownership of key features and initiatives in designing and building high quality, scalable systems in making earnings reliable and efficient. Your work will directly impact the lives of Uber's partners (drivers, couriers), riders, eaters, and operations teams across the globe.
What you will do
1. Build elegant backend platform components for high throughput and low latency distributed systems.
2. Solve challenging problems with cutting edge design and algorithms.
3. You will work with others in the team to maintain the health of our systems and code base, keep development hygienes, refactor and make improvements, keep our systems robust and resilient.
4. Drive adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability.
5. Analyze and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence design for scalability and testability.
6. Work with smart and motivated teammates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Basic Qualifications
1. 4+ years of backend software engineering experience
2. Expertise in one or more object oriented programming languages (e.g. Java, Golang, Python).
3. Experience with production-quality services, deployment, monitoring, and reliability.
4. Background in distributed storage and database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g. MySQL, Cassandra).
5. Ability to decompose complex problems into clean, extensible, performant services and systems.
6. Self-driven to identify opportunities to make things better and efficient.
7. Thoughtfulness. High adaptability. A willingness to learn.
8. A team player attitude. You believe that you can achieve more on a team - that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' candid feedback for continuous improvement and you help others by returning the favor.
Preferred Qualifications
1. You have prior experience working on features end-to-end, including frontend, backend and database.
2. Background in building high performance, scalable distributed systems.
