Software Engineer II - AI Platform (Michelangelo)

About the Role

This role is part of Uber's ML Serving team within the AI Platform, building scalable systems that power real-time machine learning inference across Uber's products. As a Software Engineer II, you will work on core serving components and services that enable reliable deployment and execution of ML and generative AI models. This role offers the opportunity to grow deep expertise in ML infrastructure while contributing to systems used at global scale.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

1. Implement and maintain backend services that support online ML inference and model serving
2. Collaborate with senior engineers to design and deliver scalable ML infrastructure components
3. Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in design and code reviews
4. Monitor system health and help troubleshoot production issues
5. Learn and apply best practices for building reliable, low-latency services

\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----

1. 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
2. Professional software engineering experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Go, Python
3. Experience building and maintaining backend services, APIs, or data-intensive systems
4. Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms

1. Exposure to machine learning systems or ML serving concepts through coursework, projects, or production experience
2. Familiarity with distributed systems fundamentals, containers, or cloud-based infrastructure
3. Experience working with monitoring, logging, or debugging production systems

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
