About the Role
The Platform Adoption and Qualification team is responsible for the production qualification and adoption of infrastructure changes across Uber's data centers. Our work includes:
- Managing Fleetwide Rollout Operations such as orchestrating new kernel versions, cpu architectures, server types, host agents etc. across hundreds of thousands of hosts.
- Automating Rollout Systems including change orchestration, rollout observability, and change gating to ensure rollouts are incremental, safe, and predictable.
- T riaging and Facilitating Resolution for workload degradations resulting from fleetwide rollouts, collaborating with stakeholders and supporting root-cause-analysis and mitigation efforts.
What You Will Do
- Invest in tooling, systems, and processes to improve safety and automation in qualifying new hardware/software changes at scale.
- Play an active role in ensuring performance/health fidelity is maintained as new hardware/software changes roll out across data centers.
- Co-maintain systems for host resource quality of service / fair sharing.
- Serve as an triage/escalation point for performance debugging.
- Contribute to improving definitions of workload health as well as automated detection of health degradation both in steady-state and as changes roll out to the fleet.

What You Will Need / Bonus Points
Basic Qualifications
- Experience managing infrastructure operations in a distributed systems context.
- Proven ability to balance delivering technically excellent solutions while ensuring alignment with business strategy and delivering quantifiable business value.
- Track-record of delivering complex projects from start to finish including design, building alignment, execution, defining clear success criteria, performing safe deployment and instrumenting high-quality observability to ensure successful landing and maintainability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in global-scale distributed system environments including highly-sharded data stores.
- Experience developing automation for large system operations.
- Experience leading complex projects impacting multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience establishing performance/health SLAs or other safety gates and mechanisms to drive large migration efforts without disruption.
- Experience with debugging multi-tenant performance issues affecting one or more resources (cpu, disk, network, etc.)
