Senior Regional Operations Manager, Risk - EMEA

Today Krakow, Poland

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Regional Operations Manager who will assess, manage, and minimize fraud-including financial fraud and marketplace risk-across EMEA.

This is a critical role for the business, offering the opportunity to manage fraud across multiple Lines of Business. It is an operations-driven role that requires a combination of data analytics, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills to guide teams and take fraud management to the next level.

This is a challenging role in a high-growth environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Risk teams across EMEA, as well as headquarters-based Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams. This role will contribute significantly to the sustainable growth of Uber's business.

What You'll Do

  • Focus - Develop strategies and solutions to reduce Financial Fraud, Chargebacks, Cash Arrears, Refunds and Appeasements, Promo Abuse, Did Not Settle transactions, and other forms of financial and marketplace risk.
  • Develop and Optimize Processes - Develop and implement new risk-mitigation solutions and frameworks that improve our ability to detect, measure, and intervene against fraudulent activity. This includes improving operational processes, automated systems, and upstream product-design solutions.
  • Analytics - Analyze large and complex datasets using SQL or Python to review earner, spender, and merchant fraud-related metrics, detect emerging fraud patterns, and help ensure high-quality experiences across the Uber ecosystem.
  • Strategy - Determine which projects and initiatives the team should prioritize and establish clear timelines to achieve goals efficiently.
  • Product Improvement - Evaluate the risk potential of new product features and business lines and inform decision-making during the design and rollout stages.

What You'll Need
  • Experience using SQL and writing intermediary level queries. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to solve issues involving people and processes by using logic, sound judgment, and data.
  • Ability to identify the root cause of a problem rather than focusing only on its symptoms.
  • Five or more years of high-performing work experience in Risk, Online Retail, startups, strategy, operations, analytics, business development, or another relevant specialty role, with demonstrated ability in quantitative fields.
  • Ability to independently drive analysis, develop conclusions, and present recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand the implications of business decisions and their impact on financial performance, particularly regarding risk and fraud.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex work and participate in constructive debate.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience using AI and generative AI tools to support data analysis, fraud investigations, process optimization, and operational decision-making, with the ability to validate outputs and apply appropriate judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in quantitative data analysis, developing deep actionable insights, modeling, and advanced test-plan design and analysis.
  • Ability to take initiative in a constantly changing work environment while maintaining flexibility and a collaborative attitude.
  • Experience creating and optimizing operational processes.
  • An MBA or a quantitative bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, finance, economics, physics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching, or managing a team is required. We're looking for someone who can develop others, foster collaboration, drive accountability, and create an environment where teams can perform at their best while navigating a fast-paced and evolving business
