Senior Public Policy Associate, Northern Europe
Yesterday• Amsterdam, Netherlands
Stockholm, Sweden
About the Role
You will coordinate Uber's Public Policy activities in the Nordics (Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark), together with the Head of Policy for Northern Europe.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and deliver Uber's public affairs activities in one of Uber's most vibrant regions.
- Act as a transparent and constructive stakeholder both internally and externally, to build lasting relationships with policymakers and key partners in the Nordics.
- Develop and deliver campaigns, events, and engagement strategies to deepen Uber's partnership with cities and organizations across the Nordics.
- Analyze and navigate the national and local political environment to advocate for Uber's priorities, through existing knowledge of local and national political processes.
- Collaborate with other teams throughout the business, including Operations, Communications, Legal, and Marketing - providing strategic advice across a range of core areas to the business.
- Your regional scope will include Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark (in close collaboration with the Head of Public Policy, Northern Europe). Depending on your profile and appetite.
What You'll Need
- Experience: Ideally 7 + years of experience in Government, Parliament, public affairs, or consultancy. We are open to candidates from other areas that have a deep understanding of politics and policy issues and/or experience navigating complex topics, who may be looking for a career change.
- Ownership: All of us at Uber seek to work with people who enjoy solving problems, building things from the bottom up, and owning projects until completion. You will be the owner of your projects from start to finish (goal setting, strategy development, and execution). You need to be highly adaptable, as well as calm under pressure, able to set strategic priorities independently, and respect deadlines.
- An exceptional advocate: We're looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, clear points. You'll need to write well and be comfortable speaking to a range of senior stakeholders - about our products, people, and the ways we're working to improve life for passengers, eaters, drivers, couriers, merchants, and cities.
- An expert negotiator: An ideal candidate will know how to navigate complex partnerships in both the private and public sector spheres, creating outcomes that are respectful of everyone's needs.
- An advisor: We're looking for someone who enjoys working on complex business issues and going into technical details to provide tailored advice to their business counterparts.
- A positive teammate: Success at Uber depends on your capacity to coordinate with different teams (internally and externally) around shared goals. It's why we're seeking well-organized people that enjoy working with others to get stuff done - and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally in a very fast-paced company like Uber.
- Willingness to travel: The role will likely require frequent travel within the region.
- Language requirements: You must be fluent in English. Being fluent in Swedish and/or Danish would be a very strong asset, but for the otherwise perfect candidate, not an absolute requirement. Multiple regional languages would, of course, be even better.
