Senior Marketplace Operations Manager

3 days ago Tokyo, Japan

About the Role

The Marketplace Operations team balances supply and demand to keep our platform efficient and reliable. Based in Japan, this role bridges our commercial teams (Sales, Account Management) and our Product and Operations teams to drive marketplace strategy for our largest enterprise brands. You will translate merchant challenges into marketplace solutions and lead high impact projects to grow our strategic accounts as the technical expert both sides trust and rely on.

Your Impact in Role

  • Own the marketplace strategy for key enterprise brands, optimizing marketplace levers to support account growth in partnership with sales and account management - without directly managing merchants.
  • Scope, lead and execute high impact projects end to end, coordinating across teams, tracking post-launch performance, evaluating impact and proposing improvements.
  • Train and equip commercial teams (Sales, CSMs, Account Managers) with marketplace knowledge and data-driven narratives for merchant conversations.
  • Configure and optimize marketplace products - delivery zones, dispatch tools, reliability systems - to achieve merchant-specific outcomes.
  • Manage operational workflows including performance reporting, incident response, and emergency marketplace adjustments.
  • Exercise commercial judgment in senior forums - challenge requests that conflict with marketplace health, backed by data, and find creative alternatives.
  • Operate with high autonomy: manage trade-offs, set priorities, and represent operations in leadership settings.
