Senior Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs, APAC
About the Role
We are looking for someone to lead our Public Policy team in APAC. This means setting direction in motion across a region defined by its immense scale and starkly different regulatory landscapes.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to stay at the 30,000-foot view. This isn't a role for someone who wants to stay at the 30,000-foot view. You will lead a massive regional footprint of 25+ policy experts, but you'll also need to dive deep into the technical "weeds" of competition policy, the future of work, and autonomous vehicles. Success here requires a "go-get-it" attitude, grit, and the ability to turn ambiguity into a well-articulated, actionable plan that cross-functional partners can rally behind.
Based in either Sydney or Singapore and reporting to the Global Head of Public Policy, you will be a key leader in our APAC organization. If you are energized by the challenge of making things better-even when the path isn't clear-this is where you'll make your mark.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Regional Charge: Direct a team of 25+ public policy professionals across APAC, fostering a culture of excellence and resilience while managing high-velocity regional strategies.
- Turn ambiguity into strategy: Take unstructured, complex regulatory challenges-from labor classification to agentic AI-and translate them into clear strategies that move the needle for the business.
- Translate global into local impact: Transform global research and data from HQ into politically relevant, locally resonant arguments that demonstrate our value to city stakeholders.
- Own the Long Game: Make decisions with an eye on both immediate local impact and the long-term global implications for Uber's multi-line business.
- Be a Strategic Multiplier: Partner cross-functionally with Product, Safety, Legal, and Tax teams, offering strategic advice that balances aggressive growth with regulatory sustainability.
- Drive Advocacy Excellence: Conceptualize and drive integrated campaigns that proactively influence policy trends rather than just reacting to them.
- Communicate with Precision: Represent Uber at the highest levels of government and industry, establishing a strong network of allies while communicating crisply in complex organizational settings.

- Stakeholder orchestration: Align diverse internal and external stakeholders, clarify decision rights, and resolve trade-offs to land outcomes that serve shared business goals.
- Execution under pressure: Operate with urgency and discipline. Deliver a high volume of high-stakes work with strong follow-through, sound judgment, and consistent quality.
