Senior Associate, Strategic Finance - Tech
About the Role
In Finance, we work hand-in-hand with leaders across the company to ensure smooth, disciplined execution of strategic business objectives. Our Strategic Finance team provides comprehensive financial insight into the business through regional and functional business partnering, forecasting and budgets. As a Senior Associate on the Tech Finance team, you will support key work streams that directly impact company objectives. This role involves acting as a financial and strategic thought partner, working cross-functionally with Finance and Platform Engineering leadership teams to evaluate initiatives through a finance lens and ensure delivery against key success metrics.
As part of the Strategic Finance team, you will help scale the financial reporting, analytics, and planning capabilities and empower decision-makers across our different businesses and functions. You will play a key role in all aspects of financial reporting and make significant contributions to high-profile strategic and operational initiatives. Your work and the insights you create will drive real-time business decisions and help Uber continue to grow, scale, and become more profitable, while also creating more opportunities for the many thousands of couriers, restaurants, and drivers that use our platform daily.

What You'll Do
- Partner with the business: To apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision-making related to new initiatives, products, and business opportunities. Identify trade-offs between cost lines.
- Financial & Operational Planning: Partner with company leaders to develop financial forecasts and operational goals
- Sophisticated financial modeling: Break complex business problems down into components, and build models from scratch as well as improve existing models
- Strategic Thinking & Execution Excellence: Partner with your team to execute projects and operationalize our insights
- Work closely with accounting to provide input on management reporting needs and better understand our actuals
Basic Qualifications
- BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, MIS or other relevant subject
- 3+ years of proven experience
- Experience with Excel/Google Sheets
- Prior financial and/or analytical experience including FP&A, investment banking, management consulting, or private equity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience partnering with engineering and/or product teams
- Functional knowledge of managing headcount related costs, cloud capacity and/or operating expenses
- Outstanding analytical skills - standard methodologies are second nature, and your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive
- Excellent communication and people skills - numbers are key, but a business is built with people
- Curiosity and willingness to leverage AI in daily activities
- Ability to prioritize - we are consistently working on multiple projects at any given time, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an ambiguous environment
- Attention to detail and ability to execute in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience with enterprise-level financial planning systems, PowerBI and/or SQL

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $131,000 per year - USD $145,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
