Join the team powering Uber's regulated payments ecosystem across Europe. At UPBV, we are looking for a Risk Manager to champion our Risk Management Framework, ensuring our business remains resilient, compliant, and scalable.

In this role, you will act as a dedicated second line of defense colleague within the UPBV Risk Management Team based in Amsterdam. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of risk management, governance and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Execute the Risk Management Framework: contribute to ensuring the delivery of UPBV's Risk Management Annual Plan. You will facilitate the identification, measurement, management, and reporting of risk, ensuring alignment with our Risk Appetite Statement and strategic objectives.
  • Provide challenge: provide independent challenge to First Line assessments. This includes reviewing New Product Risk Assessments (NPRA), Third-Party Risk Assessments (TPRA), and Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSA) to ensure findings are accurate and remediation plans are robust. Equally, as a critical partner to other UPBV departments, you will offer independent second-line review and constructive challenge to their functional policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Core Policies: You will Lead the periodic review and optimization of UPBV's Risk Management Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as extension of that policy.
  • Oversee Outsourced Operations: You will monitor the quality and timeliness of risk management activities delivered by the Regulated Services Team (RST).
  • Manage Regulatory Submissions: You will coordinate and ensure the execution of mandatory regulatory notifications for your accountable domains (i.e. Major Incident Notifications).
  • Deliver Comprehensive Reporting: You will prepare concise, meaningful reports for the Management Board. Your reporting will cover among others outcomes of risk assessments, adherence to risk appetite, and analysis of materialized risk events.
  • Facilitate Audits: Serve as a point of contact for Internal and External Audits, facilitating their inquiries.

What you'll bring

  • At least 3 - 5 years of operational experience in Risk Management or Internal/External audit in the financial industry.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or Law, ideally supplemented by a post-graduate certification in Auditing (RO/RA) or Risk Management;
  • Strong understanding of risk concepts;
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge relevant regulatory frameworks (such as PSD2/EMD2/PSD3, DNB good practices, EBA Outsourcing Guidelines and DORA);
  • Mindset/Approach: hands-on, proactive, high ownership and committing to deliver against challenging timelines and expectations. Able to drive change and solution oriented;
  • Independent & autonomous, while remaining a strong team player;
  • Strong sense of integrity;
  • Fully comfortable working in English, both written and spoken. Dutch or other EU languages a strong plus;
  • Enthusiastic, self-starting and thrives in changing, agile environments.

Bonus points

  • A background as risk manager in a Electronic Money Institution (EMI) or Payments Institution (PI) is a strongdifferentiator
  • FRM/PRM/IRM//CIA or equivalent (nice-to-have)
  • Proven ability to aggregate information and create executive-level summaries is highly desirable
  • Technical understanding of payments systems, processes and integrations.
