About the Role
We are looking for a Product Designer II to join Uber's Chat Platform team, where you will design conversational experiences that power the company's Comms Platform. Our team builds the foundational components and features that enable teams across Uber to deliver seamless, effective communications.
In this role, you'll take on complex design challenges and craft high-impact solutions for the Chat Platform, shaping the experience of every persona at Uber - including riders, eaters, couriers, and drivers - across our core businesses. Your designs will directly influence how millions of people interact with Uber every day.
This position requires a systems-thinking mindset and strong execution skills to create solutions that are intuitive, scalable, and efficient. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, researchers, and fellow designers to identify opportunities, define problems, and deliver elegant solutions. By championing design excellence, you'll play a key role in elevating the quality and consistency of Uber's communications ecosystem.

- Own design problems end to end, from discovery and concept development to execution and iteration.
- Design intuitive, scalable solutions for chat components that scale for different personas are Uber.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to explore and validate design solutions.
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define product strategies, improve usability, and ship high-impact features.
- Leverage user research and data insights to inform design decisions and continuously refine solutions.
- Evolve Uber's chat platform design patterns, ensuring consistency while adapting frameworks for new use cases.
- Contribute to a culture of design excellence, sharing insights and raising the bar for the design experiences.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 4+ years of experience in product design
- A portfolio demonstrating strong UX/UI design for complex applications
- Ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences
- Experience working across design systems and scalable design frameworks
- Proficiency in design tools (Figma) and prototyping tools (Protopie, Figma Make)
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
- Experience designing for design components at scale, being hands on in maintaining Figma libraries and components.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design at both micro and macro levels.
- Ability to facilitate discussions, drive alignment, and make tradeoff decisions with cross functional teams
- Familiarity with designing for multiple platforms like iOS and Android experiences, working closely with Engineering
- Experience navigating ambiguous spaces where design is leading the discussions.
