Marketing Technology Manager I, Data Solutions

Today San Francisco, CA

About the Role

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. The Data Solutions team within Performance Marketing is looking for an inventive, passionate and technical Marketing Technology Manager to help support and grow our business.

As a Marketing Technology Manager, you'll blend technical execution, marketing understanding, and operational excellence. You'll design, build, and maintain data pipelines, automate manual workflows, enhance data observability, and empower marketers with scalable systems. You'll partner closely with AdTech, Data Science, Product and Engineering to improve the reliability and impact of Uber's performance marketing ecosystem.

This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable writing SQL, managing technical configurations, debugging data feeds, collaborating with engineering, and guiding marketers toward data-driven solutions. You'll help define how data flows across platforms, ensuring campaigns are powered by accurate, timely, and actionable data. You'll also be a thought leader to our stakeholders, acting as a SME of our data ecosystem and nuances, bridging technical knowledge gaps, and driving Single-Source-of-Truth reporting on data issues.

What You'll Do

  1. Design and Build Data Pipelines - Architect, validate, manage, and improve data ingestion and sharing flows across internal and external systems (APIs, warehouses, tracking platforms).
  2. Automate & Scale Operations - Develop scripts, dashboards, and utilities to reduce manual work, standardize validation, and improve visibility.
  3. Investigate & Resolve Data Issues - Lead investigations into data discrepancies or performance anomalies, driving root cause clarity and long-term resolution.
  4. Deliver End-to-End Solutions - Scope, prototype, and ship small proof-of-concept (PoC) tools that unblock marketers and inform future product paths.
  5. Drive Operational Excellence - Establish and continuously refine standards for reliability, observability, documentation, and service ownership.
  6. Partner Across Teams - Collaborate with Marketing, Product, AdTech and Engineering teams to operationalize campaigns, improve observability, and standardize measurement.
  7. Champion Reliability - Build systems that improve uptime, monitoring, and error transparency across ingestion and sharing pipelines.
  8. Drive Governance & Standards - Help maintain taxonomy, event mappings, and best practices that ensure data quality and compliance.
  9. Narrative Building - Thrive in ambiguity and lead through influence, creating clear narratives for your projects to drive decisions to aligned conclusions across stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
  1. Strong working knowledge of SQL, APIs, and data pipeline tools (ETL, Airflow, dbt, or equivalent).
  2. Experience with marketing data (e.g., pixel tracking, event sharing, attribution, or ads platform APIs).
  3. Demonstrated ability to debug data issues, communicate root causes, and deliver data-driven recommendations.
  4. Track record of designing and documenting systems that increase operational resilience and visibility.
  5. Ability to thrive in ambiguity, context-switch across business and technical stakeholders, and deliver high-quality, timely results.
  6. Strong sense of stakeholder management to drive consensus and actionable results across highly cross-functional teams
  7. Comfortable challenging the status quo, applying critical thinking, setting high standards to think ambitiously and creatively to build and validate various hypotheses
