About the Role
We are looking for a Manager II, Applied Science, to lead a global team of data scientists and applied scientists towards high-quality science output to make an impact on safety for all users on the Uber platform. Own end-to-end science lifecycle on high-visibility safety projects, including deep dive analysis, modeling, experimentation design and readout, causal inference, and metrics monitoring and product iteration. Work closely with Uber's Core Services Product Managers, Engineers, and Operations Team to understand new opportunities and be a thought partner in solutioning.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
- Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields.
- Minimum 7 years of industry experience as a Scientist or equivalent (5+ years if holding a Ph.D. degree).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing a team of Applied / Data Scientists with strong people leadership skills, including growing and mentoring your team members
- Proficiency using SQL, Python, PySpark at scale with large data sets in a production environment.
- Experienced in partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to influence and execute decisions.

- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other quantitative fields.
- 9+ years of industry experience as an (Applied / Data) Scientist or equivalent (7+ years if holding a Ph.D. degree).
- Background in safety or risk
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$212,000 per year - USD$235,500 per year.
