About the Role

The Product Operations team at Uber plays a crucial role in ensuring the tech team develops and launches products that drive the business forward. As a Product Operations Lead, you will lead a team to collaborate with our cross-functional partners on problem sizing and prioritization, solution alignment, product launch and monitoring throughout the product development cycle. Your work is to ensure we build and launch the right platform solution that will support the company growth across multiple business verticals on a global scale.

The identity and risk team is responsible for defining the fundamental components of the user's identity and building risk management system throughout user lifecycle and protecting our platform and users against fraudulent and malicious actors. In this role, you will help build and scale sophisticated identity and risk solutions to enable sustainable growth.

About You:

You thrive in ambiguity and are energized by solving complex, open-ended problems. You have a strong ability to synthesize incomplete or unquantifiable inputs, surface key trade-offs, and bring clarity and direction to decision-making in fast-moving environments.

You have a proven track record of effectively managing a diverse set of stakeholders, building trust, and fostering strong collaboration-even when priorities conflict or incentives are misaligned. You communicate with clarity and empathy, and you know how to influence without authority.

You are highly organized and operationally minded, with a demonstrated ability to design, streamline, and improve processes that increase team efficiency and throughput. You balance strategic thinking with executional rigor, ensuring work moves forward smoothly while maintaining high quality.

What the Candidate Will Do:

Strategy

  1. Lead strategic analysis to surface high-impact business insights and translate them into clear recommendations that inform product direction and prioritization.
  2. Act as a strategic advisor to product teams by assessing global feasibility, risk, and trade-offs across the product lifecycle-from early concept through launch and iteration.
  3. Serve as a thought leader within the organization, setting strategic direction within your domain and influencing peers and senior stakeholders to drive meaningful business impact.


Collaboration

  1. Independently align cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Legal, Tax, Policy, Support, etc.) around shared objectives, scope, and success metrics for complex initiatives.
  2. Build trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders and navigate conflicting priorities to drive progress and unblock execution.
  3. Own and drive clear, consistent communication across a broad set of partners, ensuring alignment, transparency, and accountability throughout the lifecycle of the program or product.

Operations

  1. Define and own operating models, processes, and execution plans that translate product strategy into scalable, repeatable outcomes as a senior individual contributor.
  2. Lead end-to-end product testing, launch, and rollout planning, independently project-managing execution across multiple teams and workstreams.
  3. Establish and monitor core business and operational metrics to evaluate product performance and inform decision-making.
  4. Proactively identify post-launch risks, gaps, or underperformance across geographies or segments, and drive data-backed recommendations and corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, fostering strong collaboration and alignment without formal authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex trade-offs to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Deep analytical experience, including strong SQL proficiency and the ability to translate data into strategic insights.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with significant ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Strong strategic judgment and ability to use data, business context, and intuition to inform critical decisions.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in operations, business consulting, finance, strategy, or a similarly analytical role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading or owning global initiatives in a highly matrixed, international environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building business cases and influencing go/no-go decisions for new products or major product investments.
  • Prior experience in identity, risk detection, payments, or FinTech-adjacent domains.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$191,000 per year - USD$212,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$191,000 per year - USD$212,000 per year.
