About the Role

Uber Mobility is seeking an exceptional Head of Rider Growth to lead our Growth Operations across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). As a senior leader within the Growth team, reporting to the Head of Marketplace and Rider, you will be responsible for accelerating rider growth and engagement, and ensuring Uber is the ride-sharing platform of choice in every city we operate in.

Your mandate will be to design and execute scalable, data-driven strategies that attract, engage, and retain our riders. This includes expanding our user base, deepening engagement through Uber One and loyalty programs, and building impactful partnerships that unlock new growth levers. You will be accountable for the full growth lifecycle - acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, resurrection - and for driving sustainable topline and bottom-line growth. This role will require leveraging global learnings and elevating Sub-Saharan Africa as a region by establishing demand gen principles and driving thought leadership that can be scaled and leveraged in other markets through running XPs to test and learn.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Growth Leadership: Own the end-to-end growth strategy for rider acquisition, engagement, and retention in SSA. Identify market-specific opportunities and shape bold, high-impact plans that deliver sustainable growth.
  • Leadership Role: Rider vision setting and ability to story-tell, package and present at leadership forums
  • Cross-Functional Program Leadership: Drive initiatives such as pricing optimization, fee structure redesign, and expansion of Uber One. Build scalable growth experiments and product-led growth strategies.
  • Growth Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and execute innovative partnerships that expand our reach, unlock new use cases, and grow rider engagement.
  • Lifecycle Optimization: Enhance the entire rider lifecycle, from first ride to power user, leveraging CRM, segmentation, personalization, and product growth tactics.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Conduct deep-dive analyses using SQL and other data tools to uncover actionable insights, assess initiative performance, and optimize strategies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Business Development, Product, Strategy, Operations) to drive alignment and accelerate execution across SSA markets.

What You'll Need

  • Min 8 years of relevant professional experience in high-growth environments, such as tech, consumer growth, consulting, finance, or strategy. Direct experience in a growth or commercial leadership role is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering growth, driving complex initiatives across multi-stakeholder environments, and managing high-impact P&L levers.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with hands-on experience in SQL and data interpretation. Bonus if you've worked with Python, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Passion for customers and data - you have a deep understanding of consumer behavior and are obsessed with creating delightful experiences that drive engagement.
  • Operational excellence - you are detail-oriented, structured, and love building repeatable, scalable processes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and people leadership skills - you influence cross-functional teams with clarity, vision, and empathy.
