Group Product Manager, Grocery & Retail Advertising
Group Product Manager, Grocery & Retail Ads
About the Role
Uber Eats is expanding its mission to help consumers discover and purchase anything they need-and grocery and retail are at the center of that growth. Advertising is a critical lever in enabling merchants to scale and helping consumers find the right items at the right moment. We're looking for a visionary and strategic product leader to shape the future of grocery and retail advertising across the Uber Eats ecosystem.
As a Group Product Manager for Grocery & Retail Ads, you will own the end-to-end ad experience for both shoppers and merchants. You will define how ads appear, how they perform, how they are measured, and how they contribute to a healthy marketplace that serves millions of customers each day. You'll set long-term strategy, drive alignment across the Ads, Grocery, Retail, and Consumer organizations, and lead a team responsible for bringing that strategy to life.
You will collaborate deeply with Product Design, Data Science, Engineering, Ads Operations, Sales, UXR, and regional business teams. Your work will rely on rich shopper insights, merchant feedback, experimentation, and a strong understanding of ad systems. You'll combine product intuition with analytical rigor to build an ads ecosystem that delivers value to merchants while creating a delightful and relevant experience for consumers.
This role requires an owner's mindset, a high bar for quality, and the passion to build a world-class grocery and retail ads platform. What the Candidate Will Do
- Own the end-to-end strategy for grocery & retail ads, including sponsored listings, on-site ad formats, discovery surfaces, and placement opportunities across the Uber Eats app.
- Identify, design, and launch new advertising surfaces and formats that enhance shopper discovery while driving incremental value for grocery and retail merchants.
- Partner with Ads Engineering, Data Science, and Applied ML to improve ad ranking, targeting, bidding, and relevance models to ensure ads are high-quality and contextually useful.
- Develop and maintain a multi-quarter roadmap that advances the scalability, performance, and user experience of the grocery & retail ads ecosystem.
- Lead a rigorous experimentation program across ad placements, auction mechanics, creative formats, and bidding strategies to validate impact and strengthen marketplace quality.
- Define and track core metrics for ads success-including advertiser ROI, ad quality, shopper engagement, and revenue-and use them to guide decisions and prioritization.
- Collaborate with Ads Sales and Merchant teams to understand advertiser needs, improve onboarding and performance, and translate merchant insights into product direction.
- Elevate the consumer ad experience by ensuring ads are relevant, trustworthy, high-quality, and seamlessly integrated into the shopper journey.
- Work cross-functionally with Design and UXR to develop intuitive ad experiences that drive clarity, performance, and long-term trust.
- Align teams across Ads, Grocery/Retail, Consumer, Marketplace, and regional operations around a coherent ads vision and execution plan.
- Identify and mitigate risks across ad load, marketplace balance, consumer trust, compliance, and merchant performance.
- Champion ads quality and integrity, ensuring we scale monetization responsibly while maintaining an excellent consumer experience.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of Product Management experience delivering highly successful, user-facing products at scale.
- Experience owning and driving strategy for complex systems-preferably in ads, marketplaces, or multi-sided platforms.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including experiment design, metrics definition, and proficiency with data tools.
- Deep customer obsession and demonstrated ability to simplify complex problems into elegant, intuitive experiences.
- Proven success scaling products and owning business outcomes in high-growth environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.
