Group Product Manager, Fares platform

Yesterday Seattle, WA

About the Role

The Fares platform calculates and records all the money flow in a marketplace. Over $150B+ estimated, computed in fares for riders, drivers, couriers, eaters, government and tax agencies, and toll authorities.

  1. The fares platform is the source of truth system that calculates and records the money flow between entities in a marketplace.
  2. It calculates in real-time the amount a rider is charged, what's paid to the driver, Uber's share, and payments to authorities like taxes, tolls, and airports.
  3. There is no room for error in this system. A 0.1% error is a million-dollar error.

Projects
  1. Fallbacks - determining what should happen when a mobility trip deviates from the original predicted route and ETA.
  2. Relative pricing - determine how we should manage our portfolio of products to avoid price interactions while at the same time optimizing for efficiency in a market (e.g., should Uber Black be cheaper than UberX when Uber X supply is constrained)
  3. Smart Rounding - determining a budget-neutral method for rounding fares to take advantage of left digit bias
