Global Head of Strategy & Planning, Retail
About the Role
Uber is looking for a visionary Head of Strategy and Planning for Global Retail to help define and shape the next major driver of growth for the company. Sitting at the nexus of our fast-growing Retail business, this leader will chart where and how we win-developing the strategy that threads together every part of the business to deliver bold, measurable outcomes. Partnering closely with the Global Head of Retail, Finance, Regional GMs, and functional leaders across Uber, this role will play a pivotal part to define and drive the next major chapter of growth for our business. It's an opportunity to help write the strategy for one of Uber's most exciting growth bets-and to shape how the future of Retail comes to life across our global platform.
What You'll Do
Define and Drive Strategy
- Lead development of Uber Retail's long-term global strategy and multi-year plan, ensuring alignment across regions and functions.
- Translate insights, trends, and performance data into bold, actionable recommendations for leadership.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Policy to ensure strategy translates into measurable execution.

Orchestrate Operating Rhythm
- Design and manage the global operating cadence - Monthly Business Reviews, leadership offsites, and board-level updates.
- Drive disciplined governance and resource allocation, ensuring focus on the highest-impact priorities.
Steer Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation
- Lead the annual and quarterly planning processes, including financial modeling, headcount planning, and performance tracking.
- Ensure Retail investments align with Uber's broader Delivery strategy while maintaining category-specific autonomy and focus.
Lead Strategic Projects
- Oversee high-priority cross-functional initiatives that accelerate Retail's growth and profitability.
- Build scalable frameworks for category expansion, market prioritization, and new business incubation.
Shape Executive Narrative
- Craft compelling, data-backed materials and insights for senior leadership forums, earnings prep, and investor communications.
- Be the voice that shapes how Retail's performance, ambitions, and opportunities are understood across Uber.
Team Leadership
- Build & lead a high performing Strategy & Planning team.
- Mentor & develop team members, fostering professional growth and career development.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or business operations in high-growth, global organizations.
- Proven ability to deliver measurable impact in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience in Retail, Grocery, or Consumer Tech industries.
- Proven leadership & people management experience.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; proficiency in SQL a plus.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing global strategy at scale.
- Exceptional executive communication skills, including experience presenting to Boards or C-suite.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders.
- Adept at balancing long-term strategic bets with operational excellence and near-term execution.
- Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, bringing clarity, structure, and direction.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$221,000 per year - USD$245,500 per year.
