Earner Segmentation is a critical part of Uber's Delivery Marketplace, powering how couriers engage with work opportunities across Uber Eats, grocery, and emerging delivery verticals. Our mission is to design systems that provide couriers with flexibility, fairness, and reliability - while ensuring the marketplace operates efficiently and at global scale.You'll help build the next generation of scheduling as a first-class product for couriers. This system enables couriers to reserve time slots in advance, creating better earning opportunities and more predictable access to work.

You'll work on high-impact, large-scale challenges, such as:

  • Creating intuitive, reliable, and trustworthy experiences for couriers
  • Designing and implementing systems that balance supply and demand in real time
  • Developing scalable algorithms for fair and efficient shift allocation

Earner Segmentation is not just about building technology - it's about shaping the future of work on Uber's delivery platform, giving couriers the tools and flexibility they need to succeed.We are seeking a highly skilled engineering manager to lead this space - someone who can define and execute the technical roadmap, grow and mentor a team of engineers, and partner across Product, Science, and Operations to deliver scalable solutions that shape the future of work on Uber's delivery platform.

What You Will Do

  • Define, design, lead and execute end to end technical roadmap for Advanced Matching team
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science and Business teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
  • Ensure code quality, system reliability and security by enforcing best practices in software development
  • Champion a culture of innovation, agility and engineering excellence in the team
  • Lead and grow a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, career mentorship, and performance management

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience as engineering manager
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with expertise in algorithms, data structures, optimizations and data analysis
  • Passion for designing and building hyper-scale distributed systems
  • Resilience, determination, ownership mindset, and a keen appetite for collaborative efforts
  • Ability to execute and drive product roadmap
  • Proven track record delivering business impact
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Managed teams sized 5-10 people

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in product engineering, designing and coding
  • Experience working in Marketplace or B2B companies
  • Experience in productionizing machine learning or deep learning models in production
  • Proficiency in batch and real-time data pipelines

For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$189,000 per year - CAD$210,000 per year.
