Director, Strategy & Planning - US&C Delivery
About The Role
The Director of Strategy and Planning for US & Canada Delivery will lead a team of deeply analytical and strategic problem solvers who act as thought partners to the US&C RGM, Territory GMs (P&L owners), Head of Strategic Ops, Sales Leaders, and key cross-functional partners across Product/Engineering, Marketing, and Finance. The right candidate will lead a team that focuses on competitive, operational, sales, and product strategy; this leader will champion high-priority projects across US & Canada that will have frequent visibility to ELT and other senior leaders across the organization. We're looking for someone who can set a vision and understand problems from 30,000 feet as well as dive deep into the details. This role will work across multiple functions and teams in support of driving stronger business results for our single largest Delivery business.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Thought Leadership: Join the US&C Delivery Leadership team, reporting into the RGM, and play a key role in defining and making decisions about the strategic direction of this $B+ GB business. You will be expected to develop and articulate a compelling competitive strategy, defining the unique value we bring across the marketplace, and help to communicate the strategy internally
- Vision: Work closely with the RGM, other regional Strategy & Planning Leads, GMs, and Product leaders across the company to develop and iterate on our overall US&C operational strategy
- Prioritization: Work with the US&C Delivery Leadership team to set strategic priorities, align regional and Global Delivery focus areas, and identify scalable best practices
- Program/Project Management: Be a multi-tasker, supporting territory teams and regional teams. Serve as THE go-to person for many key initiatives, not just for Operations, but across key teams within the organization such as Product, Sales, and Finance
- Scaled Data Intelligence & Analytical Expertise: Lead a team to build, maintain, and communicate top-tier, consulting-caliber analytical models on topics such as deep competitive strategy, merchant selection, pricing, and value proposition measurement to assist city-level, regional, and expansion efforts
- Drive Decisions: Leverage rigorous strategic frameworks and a deep understanding of the Global Delivery strategy to ensure the US&C business makes high-quality, data-driven decisions. Be prepared to engage in rigorous intellectual debate and challenge assumptions to arrive at the best outcomes
- Build Relationships: Develop and nurture strong relationships with relevant leaders of other Eats functional areas (Finance, Product, Sales, Marketing, BD, Regional Ops, Legal, etc.) to drive stronger business results and collaboration
- Lead by Example: Be truth-seeking with data, set a high bar for the team to think boldly and creatively, and then to funnel that energy into concrete processes and execution plans
- Act like an Owner: Use your role to help maximize value creation for the Delivery business and Uber overall

Basic Qualifications
- At least 10 years of investment banking, consulting, business intelligence, strategy, entrepreneurial, or other related operating experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred
- Exceptional communicator who can synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight the key takeaways, and disseminate actionable insights
- Outstanding organizational skills with a logical and structured approach to project prioritization and related communications
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, who can flex from big-picture strategic vision to pragmatic execution-oriented approach leveraging data to establish points of view
- Proven track record in working with global remote teams to develop strategies and foster a cohesive and creative work environment
- Experienced in balancing attention to detail with swift execution - consistently doing things both quickly and at a high-quality level
- Hands-on self-starter who thrives with a high degree of autonomy as well as a collaborator
- Willingness to travel; team is split between NYC and SF
For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$209,000 per year - CAD$232,000 per year.
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$199,000 per year - USD$221,000 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$221,000 per year - USD$245,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$221,000 per year - USD$245,500 per year.
