Director, Global Mobility Strategy

Today San Francisco, CA

About The Role

At Uber, we are reimagining the way the world moves. Our Mobility business is a vast, dynamic ecosystem, spanning hundreds of cities and dozens of countries. From a rider grabbing an UberX to get to a meeting, to a family using Uber Green for a more sustainable trip to the airport, to a commuter trying our latest e-bike for the first time, our portfolio of products is connecting people and their communities in ways never before possible. We operate at a massive scale, but our mission remains simple: to provide reliable, safe, and accessible transportation for everyone, everywhere.

The Global Mobility Strategy team sits at the very heart of this mission. We are the analytical engine that helps steer the business, working side-by-side with senior leaders to shape the future direction of our global operations. Our team is responsible for finding and pursuing the next big opportunities, ensuring we remain accountable for delivering results, and uncovering the critical data-driven insights that help leaders across product, operations, and engineering make better, more informed decisions.

The ideal candidate for this role combines outstanding strategic acumen with deep operating experience, is a critical thinker who can navigate ambiguity to find clarity, and is an inspiring leader who can influence stakeholders and develop talent.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the global growth strategy, defining the categories and markets we will compete in over the long term.
  • Develop frameworks and drive decisions on how to enter new verticals, whether through building, buying, or partnering, including the identification and evaluation of potential M&A targets.
  • Build comprehensive business models to project investment requirements, ROI, and time horizons for new strategic bets.
  • Create and manage a strategic planning process to define, sequence, and resource our most critical growth initiatives.
  • Establish and oversee a regular review process to track progress against strategic goals, facilitating discussions on necessary pivots in investment or resource allocation.
  • Partner with leaders of our growth verticals to ensure each has a well-reasoned, data-backed strategy with clear plans, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Drive cross-cutting performance analysis of our growth portfolio, generating and disseminating key learnings to improve the efficiency and success of all new ventures.
