About the Role
We're seeking a Content Design Manager to lead the Content Designers who work on our Rider app. They're an experienced, highly creative team whose content propels seamless experiences-both digital and physical-for millions of Uber users.
You'll be responsible for coordinating this team and guiding their work and development. Critically, you'll help build the practice of Content Design at Uber, so your work will influence other teams as well.
This is a role with exciting scope. You'll also use your organizational skills to focus outward, building relationships across the Design Org and beyond.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with design leads and product managers to help craft the vision and strategies behind some of the most important and exciting initiatives in the company.
- Help content designers do their best work by providing timely feedback in crits, 1:1s, and other settings.
- Provide regular check-ins to coach content designers and help them develop their strengths and grow their careers.
- Set expectations with cross-functional partners about work prioritization-what the team will cover and how much effort will be dedicated to each project.
- Set the bar high by knowing what high-quality content looks like and how to help product teams ship at that standard.
- Work with the rest of the Content Design leadership team to develop tools, systems, and other shared resources like content guidelines and frameworks that help scale our impact globally.
- Help build Content Design by recruiting great new talent to the team.
- Promote Content Design at Uber, evangelizing its importance and impact.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of product design experience.
- A portfolio of samples that demonstrate your abilities as a Content Designer.
- 2+ years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in English, Journalism, Psychology, Design, Marketing, Advertising, or any area that emphasizes storytelling and critical thinking.
- Ability to demonstrate long-term thinking around strategic and business-focused activities.
- Proven experience driving efficiency and innovation in operations, empowering teams to deliver smarter, faster outcomes-including through integrating AI into design processes.
- Experience designing 0-1 products.
- Extensive experience conducting and/or collaborating with user research and data science to leverage their respective insights.
- Experience leading and mentoring both junior and senior content designers.
- Experience providing thought leadership and guiding a team toward achieving a common goal.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- An appetite for problem-solving in a landscape that changes quickly.
- Experience leading or collaborating with geographically distributed teams.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$205,000 per year - USD$228,000 per year.
