Application Developer II _Work Management
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Application Developer - Work Management to design, build, and optimize applications on the Atlassian platform that enable scalable, efficient business processes. In this role, you will partner closely with Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into durable technical solutions, leveraging configuration, automation, APIs, and emerging AI capabilities.
This position is ideal for a hands-on Atlassian expert who enjoys building intelligent, integrated solutions and driving continuous improvement across Jira, Confluence, and the broader Atlassian ecosystem.
\-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ----
1. Atlassian Platform Development & Administration: Design, configure, and optimize Jira and Confluence, including workflows, custom fields, permissions, schemes, automations, and integrations.

2. Toolchain Management: Own and support the Atlassian toolchain, including Structure, JEMH, EazyBI, ScriptRunner, and other marketplace apps, ensuring reliability and alignment with business needs.
3. AI / GenAI & Rovo Agent Development: Build and maintain AI-powered applications and Atlassian Rovo Agents to automate workflows, connect data sources, and augment user productivity within Atlassian products.
4. API & Integration Development: Develop deep integrations using Atlassian REST and GraphQL APIs, as well as third-party APIs, to enable seamless data flow and automation.
5. Customization & Reporting: Create and maintain dashboards, filters, queries, and reports that support operational insights and decision-making.
6. Automation & Scripting: Develop and manage ScriptRunner scripts to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve system efficiency.
7. Support & Enablement: Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and guidance to end users; respond to Jira-related issues and enhancement requests.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve tooling, workflows, and usage patterns; implement best practices across the Atlassian ecosystem.
9. Documentation & Communication: Maintain clear, structured documentation and collaborate effectively with Business Analysts and stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and successful outcomes.
\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----
1. 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and developing solutions on Atlassian platforms (Jira and Confluence Cloud and/or Data Center).
2. Deep expertise in Jira workflows, custom fields, schemes, permissions, and advanced configurations.
3. Strong experience developing and maintaining ScriptRunner scripts for automation and workflow enhancement.
4. Proven experience working with Atlassian REST and GraphQL APIs and integrating third-party systems.
5. Hands-on experience with key Atlassian marketplace apps such as Structure, JEMH, and EazyBI.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to solution design.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated experience using AI-powered developer tools as part of a daily engineering workflow (e.g., AI-assisted coding, debugging, test generation, documentation, or architectural reasoning), with the ability to clearly articulate how these tools improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
\-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ----
1. Experience developing AI-enabled solutions using Atlassian Rovo, including Rovo Agents and AI-driven automations.
2. Familiarity with prompt engineering, agent actions, and integrating large language models (LLMs) into enterprise workflows.
3. Experience designing enterprise-scale dashboards, reporting solutions, and analytics using Jira and EazyBI.
4. Prior experience supporting large or complex organizations with multiple teams and governance requirements.
5. Background collaborating closely with product owners or business analysts in a requirements-driven environment.
