About the role
This position sits at the heart of Tradeweb's ambition to advance its global surveillance capability and prepare the function for the future. While the role will support selected core activities such as alert review and quality assurance, its primary focus is on shaping and elevating the broader surveillance framework. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Head of Surveillance and partners across Compliance, Technology, Risk, and the business to deliver a programme of enhancements that strengthens the firm's control environment and supports long ‑ term scalability.
You will take a leading role in designing and refining alert models, enhancing data quality and analytics, developing advanced dashboards, and embedding data ‑ driven methodologies that support effective monitoring across multiple asset classes. A key part of the remit involves modernising processes, automating workflows, and preparing datasets and control mechanisms for AI ‑ driven techniques, together with guiding the integration of new business initiatives into the surveillance framework.

The role offers significant scope to innovate, address complex analytical challenges, and contribute to the architecture of a surveillance function designed for future needs. Working in partnership with senior stakeholders, you will help establish the standards, tools, and strategic direction that ensure Tradeweb continues to meet regulatory expectations while supporting the expansion of its global platform.
Key responsibilities
- Support the review and analysis of daily surveillance alerts to ensure timely escalation and effective case management.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of closed alerts handled by other Surveillance Officers to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Lead the integration of new business initiatives into the surveillance framework, ensuring monitoring coverage and alignment with control requirements.
- Lead the design and optimisation of alert scenarios, including parameter setting, tuning, and back‑testing to ensure effective surveillance coverage.
- Refine and enhance alert logic to reduce false positives while maintaining high detection sensitivity and coverage.
- Use Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib) together with statistical techniques to support data analysis, modelling, and alert calibration.
- Design and build expert‑level Tableau visualisations and interactive dashboards to monitor alert activity, calibration outcomes, control performance, and provide real‑time MI and board reporting.
- Work with data engineers and quants to prepare and optimise large datasets for AI applications, driving data and process automation and supporting the integration of AI capabilities.
- Support development and implementation of AI‑driven models to enhance trade surveillance and detect potential market abuse.

Required skills:
Product and Market Knowledge
- Extensive Fixed Income experience with strong knowledge of products including bonds, repos, credit derivatives, interest rate swaps, and related instruments.
- Excellent understanding of Fixed Income pricing, market structure, liquidity dynamics, and execution workflows.
- Interest in digital assets and blockchain, with the ability to understand emerging trading models and future surveillance implications.
Trade Surveillance and Market Abuse Expertise
- Experience designing, implementing, and calibrating trade surveillance alerts to detect potential market abuse.
- Hands-on experience developing and enhancing market abuse detection tools for Fixed Income markets.
- Strong understanding of market abuse typologies, including insider dealing, unlawful disclosure, and market manipulation.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and EU Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and regulatory expectations.
- Experience conducting Fixed Income market abuse assessments.
Alert Design and Calibration Skills
- Expertise designing, tuning, and back-testing alert scenarios to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Experience developing and refining alert logic to reduce false positives while maintaining high detection sensitivity.
Data and Dashboard Development
- Extensive experience querying, cleaning, and preparing large datasets from trading, order, reference, and market data sources.
- Skilled in automating data pipelines supporting Tableau dashboards and surveillance systems.
- Strong capability in designing visualizations for alert monitoring, calibration results, control performance, regulatory reporting, and management information.
Core Technical and Analytical Skills
- Excellent proficiency in Tableau, with expertise in building dashboards, visual analytics, and data storytelling for surveillance insights.
- Advanced data preparation and modelling skills to optimise datasets for Tableau.
- Strong SQL capability to extract, transform, and aggregate large trade and market datasets.
- Advanced Python programming, practical experience using libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib for data analysis, statistical modelling, and alert calibration.
- Strong Excel proficiency, including advanced formulas, pivoting, and automation.
- Strong statistical knowledge, covering distributions, hypothesis testing, regression, clustering, and anomaly detection.
AI Skills
- Experience handling large-scale data and preparing structured and unstructured datasets for AI models using SQL and Python.
- Understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
- Strong motivation to enhance AI skills to support development of Surveillance AI initiatives.
