Role Summary

The Vice President, Data Management is a senior individual contributor responsible for providing deep expertise in reference data and strong technical capability to support enterprise data quality, consistency, and scalability. This role serves as a key regional subject matter expert and escalation point for complex data questions, investigations, and solution design.

The role combines hands-on data analysis and technical execution with ownership of complex problem-solving, governance adherence, and continuous improvement initiatives. The individual works closely with global stakeholders, technology teams, and data providers to ensure reliable data delivery and effective use of reference data across the firm, without direct people management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a senior subject matter expert for reference data and security master domains, providing guidance and resolution for complex or high-impact data issues.
• Serve as a primary regional point of contact for complex data-related questions, escalations, and investigations.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements, assess impacts, and support resolution of data quality issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology, Product, Operations, and external data vendors to support effective use of data and data-driven outcomes.
• Perform advanced data analysis and investigations across multiple systems and data sources using SQL, Python, and related tools.
• Lead root-cause analysis efforts and recommend durable solutions to recurring data issues.
• Support and contribute to data integration, migration, and transition initiatives, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to downstream processes.
• Support the integration and alignment of multiple data sources into standardized data platforms and workflows.
• Adhere to and promote data governance standards, controls, and documentation to reduce operational risk.
• Drive automation, analytics, and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
• Design and maintain scripts, queries, or tools to support data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting.
• Provide technical and domain guidance to global data teams, supporting knowledge sharing and consistent execution across regions.
• Apply strong securities and primary market knowledge to support accurate onboarding and lifecycle management of financial instruments.
• Proactively identify data risks, control gaps, and process weaknesses, and escalate recommendations as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data management, reference data, or related roles within the financial services industry.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or operating a security master or enterprise reference data platform.
• Strong knowledge of fixed income securities; broader exposure to equity securities is a plus.
• Experience supporting complex data integration, migration, or transformation initiatives.
• Proven ability to manage complex analyses and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, VBA, and data connectivity.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or tooling.
• Solid understanding of data mapping, data modeling, and relational database concepts.
• Experience designing or supporting data quality checks, reconciliations, and control frameworks.

Preferred

• Experience working within a global or distributed data operating model.
• Exposure to primary market workflows and issuance-related data.
• Experience driving automation or analytical initiatives within a data or reference data function.
• Experience acting as a senior SME or regional point of contact
