Who we're looking for

Toyota's Privacy & Governance Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Manager, Privacy & Governance-Privacy Operations.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide strategic and technical leadership for the Consumer Privacy Operations team, ensuring robust privacy compliance across consumer interactions, including platforms and digital properties. The person in this role will lead the implementation and monitoring of privacy regulations, and collaborate closely with business units and technical teams across Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) to design and execute privacy strategies, including cookie/tag management and emerging privacy risk mitigation.

The person in this role will report to the General Manager, Privacy & Governance.

This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.

What you'll be doing

  • Privacy Operational Strategy and Compliance Roadmap: Determining the strategic approach to meet evolving privacy regulations, including which new regulations to prioritize and how to implement them effectively across the organization.
  • Data Subject Request (DSR) and Incident Response Management: Deciding on processes and resources for handling high volumes of data subject requests and privacy-related incidents efficiently, balancing compliance with operational feasibility.
  • Platform and Consent Management Enhancements: Selecting the privacy controls, consent mechanisms, and platform improvements to ensure data protection across customer interactions, while maintaining user experience and regulatory alignment.
  • Digital Properties Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Design and implement a comprehensive strategy for cookie and tag management technology compliance, balancing regulatory compliance with user experience and business needs.
  • Navigating Evolving Regulations: Constantly adapting to new and changing privacy laws, ensuring processes are compliant amidst significant regulatory scrutiny.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinating with multiple departments to align on privacy practices, balancing compliance needs with user experience.
  • Managing Data Requests and Incidents: Efficiently handling large-scale data subject requests and resolving privacy-related customer issues.
  • Resource Allocation and Prioritization: Balancing limited resources to address competing compliance needs, ensuring high-priority privacy controls and audits are maintained.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Law, Business, Information Technology, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in privacy, compliance, internal audit, or a related regulatory field
  • Proven track record of managing data privacy and regulatory compliance in a large, multinational organization
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance best practices
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects
  • CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) or CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager), or a commitment to obtain within 6 months
