Toyota's Body Weld Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage technical operations, systems, and projects for a designated process area within the Body Weld Department.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Weld Department's objective to ensure that all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost targets are achieved and tracked utilizing FMDS tools (KPI Management) for both New Model Launch and/or Mass Production.
What you'll be doing
- Lead by "Safety First" mindset, Toyota Way, and TPS Principles.
- Support development and execution of annual/project plans aligned with company and department hoshin goals.
- Analyze KPIs and identify/implement data driven project execution & kaizen activity.
- Lead technical problem-solving activities related to Equipment Readiness, Process Readiness & Operator Readiness.
- Support Production and Maintenance departments to solve system / process problems and implement countermeasure activity.
- Be a technical resource for production, maintenance, and quality to support new model launch and manufacturing operations and standardization.
- Report to management, internal and external, on project status.
- Coordinate and manage TMNA/vendor/supplier/contractor activity, including equipment specification, job scope, expectations, safety, and schedules.
- Develop Control Plans & technical instruction to ensure Quality requirements.
- Interact with all stakeholder groups (Stamping PE, Paint PE, Assy PE, Facilities, etc.)
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related Science field or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum 2 years working experience in an Engineering Role within a manufacturing or automotive related field
- Experience with machine specification creation and implementation of major and minor equipment and/or process changes
- Experience as a project leader - creating, coordinating, and managing project KPIs, activity schedules, open items closure & budgets
- Experience writing scope of work, technical specification, and/or procedures
- Experience and understanding of manufacturing equipment & processes such as robotics, automation, new technology and/or system integration
- Experience leading and coordinating data driven problem solving activities related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost
- Experience using Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.)
- Experience using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Experience understanding & applying technical drawings & engineering standards
- Willing to work weekends & holidays/shutdowns as necessary
- Ability & willingness to work up to 60% overtime
- Ability & willingness to travel up to 15% as necessary
