Who we're looking for
Toyota's Production Control team is seeking a motivated Ordering Manager to lead all ordering activities and ensure performance targets for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and people development are achieved.
This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to support both daily operations and long‑term improvement.
This position is based in San Antonio, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and support the Ordering team through daily operations.
- Make sure the right parts are ordered at the right time to support production.
- Keep inventory at the correct levels-no shortages, no excess.
- Coordinate engineering changes (ECI's) so updated parts flow smoothly into production.
- Work with suppliers to ensure parts arrive on time and in the correct quantities.
- Lead improvements to ordering processes and ensure all systems, data, and inventory signals remain accurate and up to date
- Oversee preparation of new and updated part orders for model launches while minimizing obsolescence risk.
- Deliver timely and effective leadership support in addressing production challenges, including part shortages, delivery disruptions, and urgent changes.
- Partner with other departments (Production, Purchasing, Logistics, etc.) to solve issues quickly.
- Ensure all team activities align with Toyota standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Translate strategy (Hoshin) into daily and long-term action plans for the team.
- Develop team capabilities to drive operational efficiency and supply chain stability.

What you bring
- Bachelor's degree or higher or 10 years of equivalent professional experience in supply chain, production control, or materials management.
- Direct working experience in Toyota PC or management experience with responsibility for direct reports outside of Toyota PC, including understanding of Toyota concepts, including the TPS, Toyota Logistics, Materials Handling, and Ordering systems
- Experience with problem‑solving methodologies such as TBP, JKK, PDCA, A3, and 5-Why
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Toyota Business Practice (TBP) completion through panel
- Available to support off-shift work, including all shifts, weekend and shutdown support as needed and after-hours availability for supply chain interruption.
- Ability to lead with urgency, especially during production interruptions.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and sustain results.
- Ability to translate strategy (Hoshin) into action plans and daily management.
- Strong communicator capable of influencing cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and grow team capability.
Added bonus if you have
- Supervisory experience, with responsibility for direct reports
- Completion of Manger Development program or agreement to complete within 24 months
- Completed OJD through reflection
- Experience and/or exposure to Data Analysis tools such as Power BI and Power Apps
- Toyota North American Parts Ordering Experience
